Take the history tour the day is about
The parade and festival are free and unticketed. This half-day small-group tour is the closest bookable companion to the day: Sweet Auburn, the Civil Rights landmarks and Black Atlanta's neighbourhoods, with a guide. A related tour, not a festival ticket.
