About this place

The History Center is a museum inside a park: 33 wooded acres in Buckhead carrying the main museum building, historic houses, and gardens, all on the one ticket. The museum's centrepiece is the Cyclorama, the vast circular painting of the Battle of Atlanta, restored and rehung here.

The Center also runs the Margaret Mitchell House in Midtown, which is ticketed separately. On the Buckhead campus, allow half a day: the houses open later than the museum, the Goizueta Children's Experience gives younger visitors their own floor, and the gardens reward the walk between buildings.
