About this place
Swan House is the mansion at the heart of the History Center campus, designed by Philip Trammell Shutze in 1928 for Edward and Emily Inman and named for the swans worked into its decoration. It has been open to the public since 1967 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The famous approach is from below, up the cascade of lawns and fountains to the columned front; inside, the rooms are kept as the Inmans' house. It opens with the campus's historic houses at 11am, and the one History Center ticket covers it.
