About this place
A few blocks of Auburn Avenue hold the arc of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.'s life: the Birth Home at 501 Auburn, where he spent his first twelve years; Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he was baptised and later co-pastor; and the King Center, where he and Coretta Scott King are buried beside a reflecting pool. The National Park Service runs the park, and most of it is self-guided.
One change to know before you go: the main Visitor Center is closed for renovation, and visitor services, including the free tickets for the Birth Home presentations, run from the temporary visitor center in historic Fire Station No. 6 at 39 Boulevard NE. Arrive early in the day for the Birth Home; its presentation places go first.
